From Winter Camp to Spring Adventures

Dear WILD One,

Camp WILD Winter may be over but the warmth of connection from our weekend together lingers. Our winter gathering this year was exceptionally special because we tried something totally new. While all Camp WILDs are emergent and include elements of co-creation, this one was completely co-created by the women who attended. And wow, what awesome fun!

Whether it was gathering around the fire, sharing meals, dance parties or improv, cheering each other on at high ropes or cold plunging, or creating with our hands, every moment reminded me that connection is the true heart of camp. It’s what makes the experience so special - coming together, laughing, seeing and being seen, and sharing space in ways that matter.

I’m already counting down to Camp WILD Classic in September (Sept 19th-22nd)!

Needs & Offers: The Heart of Community

Our mantra for the weekend was: Ask for what you need, offer what you can. It’s a simple yet profound idea from Christina Baldwin, a writer and teacher whose work on storytelling and circle practice has shaped the way I think about community. Her words were first introduced to me by my mentors, and over time, they’ve become ones I live by. Community thrives when we recognize that each of us comes with both needs and gifts - and that real connection happens when we have the courage to name them. It’s a practice of trust, reciprocity, and presence. We lived this at winter camp, and I want to continue to carry that spirit forward into the months ahead.

Keeping the Fire Burning 🔥

While we have some time to go before our next big gathering in September, we’re offering FUNdraisers in the meantime - opportunities to invite in new friends, learn, be outside, and most importantly, stay connected. These events also help support the Wild Woman Bursary, ensuring more women can experience the magic of Camp WILD.

Next up: A Nonviolent Communication (NVC) Workshop – This Saturday April 5th led by the incredible Emily LeGrand! If you’ve ever wished for better tools to express yourself with clarity and compassion - whether at work, at home, or even in your own self-talk - this is for you. NVC is about learning how to recognize and express feelings and needs without blame or shame. We’ll spend the day (10 AM - 4 PM), just north of Ottawa learning and practicing together. A few spots remain so RSVP today!

📖 Book recommendation: If this resonates with you, I highly recommend Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life by Marshall Rosenberg.

👣 You can also follow along with Emily, this month's facilitator, for her other NVC offerings: https://subscribepage.io/reweavingconnection

Hope to see you soon - whether at a FUNdraiser, in the woods, or around the campfire come September.

Yours in S'mores,

Jenn
